Valentine’s Day tends to come with a lot of pressure which is why Jake and I, for the past 3 years have tended to make it a simple evening to focus on just the two of us. Last year, we spent the night in, making dinner together. We exchanged small homemade gifts and letters that we had written for each other and then watched a chick flick. It wasn’t anything extravagant but I think that is why it was so special. I’ve come up with a couple of simple and inexpensive date ideas that I hope help you and your love have a special day as well.1) Rent a movie on iTunes, build a fort, buy some junk food and enjoy a cozy night in, pretending you’re kids again.
2) Pick all your favourite board games that you can play with two people and have a board game competition. Keep score and make a bet on who wins.
3) Go to the grocery store and get all the things you will need for your favourite meal and then spend the night cooking it together.
4) Bake heart shaped sugar cookies and decorate them together.
5) Go skating at Olympic Plaza or your nearest rink and then go to Starbucks for a hot chocolate date afterward.
Whatever you choose to do, keep it simple. All that really matters on this day is that you love each other. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
