I had such a lovely Thanksgiving with my family. On the holidays, we are usually very lonely because we are from Ontario and our family lives there. We were lucky enough to have my grandparents fly down on the Saturday. It was such a foggy night in Calgary that they weren’t able to land on time. They finally came in at 2am but I was already asleep at that point.

The days prior to Thanksgiving we spent the time getting the house and food prepped. We set up a game room in our basement with a new Foosball table, a dart board and a games shelf and table. We used the basement a hundred times more this weekend than we ever have before. Jake and I are incredibly competitive. We love playing games together and this weekend we did just that almost every day. Hopefully one day I’ll beat him in a game of darts.

My mom is an amazing cook. Our holiday dinners are always delicious but this year our Thanksgiving meal was extra special. She made squash soup that was so rich and creamy and put it inside of tiny little pumpkins. It was such a nice touch and made the meal last so much longer than it usually does. The soup stayed super hot inside the pumpkins, we were all shocked.

Most years I make the pumpkin pie because it is my absolute favourite! When I was a kid I used to have it as my birthday cake and my birthday is in August, which is definitely not seasonal. I made the pie again this year and I also helped my mom make the chocolate turtle cheesecake. I love baking so much, I also made pumpkin muffins with pumpkin butter the morning before our Thanksgiving dinner. I used a Barefoot Contessa recipe for the pumpkin pie filling and Pinterest recipes for the cheesecake and muffins.

Overall it was one of the best Thanksgivings we have had so far. I am so thankful for my loving family, boyfriend and the lovely food we were able to share. I hope everyone else had a lovely day as well.

Love, Lolo
